DIY Faux Stained Glass Flower Keychains
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Aleene’s. All opinions are my own.
Did you know that you can use clear glue to replicate the look of stained glass? It’s true! I’ve teamed up with my friends at Aleene’s today to show you how you can create beautiful stained glass-like colors with just a little bit of paint and Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue. I painted these colors on plexiglass flowers and then coated them with Aleene’s Matte Acrylic Sealer for an extra layer of protection, too.
Aren’t they pretty? Keep on reading for the step by step how-to!
What You'll Need
Aleene’s Acrylic Sealer - Matte Finish
Plexiglass Flower w/ Key Ring Hole
Paint In Desired Color + White
Small Wooden Circle
Paintbrush
Keychain Hardware
How To
Step 1) Mix about a tablespoon of Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue with a VERY small drop of paint in your desired color. Keep mixing until the glue takes on the color of the paint. Then, paint your plexiglass flower and allow it to dry completely.
Step 2) Paint your wooden circle white and allow it to dry completely.
Step 3) Spray your painted plexiglass flower with Aleene’s Acrylic Matte Sealer to give it a smooth matte finish and to help keep the paint from wearing. A few sprays go a long way!
Step 4) Once the sealant is dry, glue your white circle onto your flower and then add your keychain hardware.
And that’s all there is to it! Happy crafting everybody!
