DIY Clay Earrings
I don't have my ears pierced and to be quite honest, I've never really wanted to pierce them.
That doesn't mean, of course, that I don't love to wear a colorful pair of earrings every now and again. It can often be hard to find clip on earrings that I actually like so I decided, you know what, it's time to make some! This whole process requires quite a few tools but it's actually pretty easy once you get going.
I think I'll be making all of my earrings from now on.
What You'll Need
Rolling Pin
Cookie Cutters + Craft Knife for cutting out shapes
Jump Rings and/or Craft Wire
Needle Nose Pliers
Glue
Desired Earring Backings (I used clip ons)
Push Pin (or similar to create small holes)
Cotton Swabs + Rubbing Alcohol (to remove any unwanted dust/lint)
How To
Purple + Pink Heart Earrings
Step 1) Create two pink hearts and two purple rectangles with your clay.
Step 2) Pierce holes in them like in the image below.
Step 3) Use a cotton swab and some rubbing alcohol to remove any impurities from your clay. Allow the rubbing alcohol to dry completely and then bake the clay according to package instructions.
Step 4) Allow your clay to cool completely and then use your pliers and craft wire to connect your earrings. I used craft wire for these earrings because they were too thick for the jump rings I had. Complete your earrings by gluing on your backing of choice.
White + Red Heart Earrings
Step 1) Use a circle cookie cutter to cut out two white clay circles. Then, cut those circles in half like in the image below. Create two red hearts, as well.
Step 2) Pierce holes in your earrings like in the image below. Remove any impurities using a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol and make sure the alcohol dries completely before baking according to package instructions.
Step 3) Once your clay has cooled, use your pliers and jump rings to connect your earrings. Then, glue on your red hearts like in the image below. Complete your earrings by attaching your backing of choice.
Rainbow Earrings
Step 1) Create two small white circles and two rainbows out of clay. Remove any impurities using a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol and allow the alcohol to dry completely.
Step 2) Bake your clay according to package instructions and allow to cool completely.
Step 3) Complete your earrings by gluing your white circles onto your rainbows and attaching the backing of your choice.
So cute, right?! Happy making everybody!
